The late Larry Clark's studies were not related to treatment of cancer,
but the results strongly pointed to selenium significantly reducing
the risk of developing and dying from cancer.
Given the relatively short time frame for demonstrating benefit
(several years) as opposed to the longer time frame for demonstrating
the benefits of folic acid supplementation, this suggests that selenium
interrupts the development of some cancers (could be seen as a treatment
for pre-clinical malignancies) as opposed to folic acid preventing genome
damage in the first place.
