Sulforaphane - The Most Significant Component of Broccoli

As a side point, there are enzymes in the body, knows as Phase 1 enzymes, which cause the formation of cancer causing agents. Garlic has been shown to inactivate these Phase 1 enzymes and protects against cancer. So, garlic taken along with broccoli would provide a double protection against cancer.

Heart Disease - Broccoli tweaks the gene GST to more activity. The GST gene, among other things, stimulates the production of glutathione, the body's main anti-oxidant. This anti-oxidant, significantly, helps keep arteries healthy.
